For my debut feature film “Grammatik” (working title), we are looking for Chinese and Arab talents and actors for our lead characters
no acting experience needed
Logline: Chinese artist Qing (25) struggles to follow the rules in Germany. At a language school, he meets Bassam (35), a disciplined Syrian cook who helps him improve his studies and stay in the country. Through their love-hate relationship, Qing learns what it really means to be free.
ROLE: QING — Lead
A carefree Chinese artist making strange, wild drawings in his tiny Hamburg flat. Struggles to break free from rules and identities of every kind. He dances when words fail him. Emotionally unavailable, but something about Bassam gets to him.
Male, 20–35, Mainland Chinese, or diaspora raised in a Mainland Chinese environment
Languages: Mandarin (native; Sichuan dialect a plus), English (fluent), German (basic, or willing to learn)
Look & Presence: Slender, yet powerful in movement. Eyes that don't care what others think. Dances like he forgot someone was watching. Goes from stillness to full speed with nothing in between.
