It would be already the Year of Horse in China

— Lunar New Year celebration, aka a food gate away

Tired of back-to-back EFM meetings and surviving purely on audio, video, and caffeine? How about satisfying your mouth, tongue, and stomach for a change?

Good news: thanks to the time difference, the lunar calendar would have already flipped to the Year of the Horse in China at noon on the first Monday of Berlinale 2026. Western institutions may politely ignore it—but we know you care about traditions that are thousands of years old.

I’ve booked a round table at one of Berlin’s most iconic Szechuan Chinese restaurants and will curate the food order. Average damage: around €20 per person.
